Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today to launch Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026, a week-long initiative aimed at transforming the Indian bureaucracy into a more "citizen-centric" workforce. Speaking via video message, the Prime Minister emphasized the mantra of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ (The Citizen is God), arguing that a developed India (Viksit Bharat) cannot be built on infrastructure alone but requires "skilled, sensitive, and committed" human resources.
The initiative is part of Mission Karmayogi, a massive capacity-building program designed to update public service standards for the 21st century. "A single decision by a responsive official can transform thousands of lives," the PM stated. The program focuses on "Ease of Living" metrics and personal accountability within government departments. This push for administrative excellence coincides with the rollout of several digital reforms, including the new Income Tax Act, 2025, which officially came into effect this week, aiming to simplify the tax burden on the middle class through automated, transparent processing systems.
