The Ministry of Defence announced today that India’s annual defence exports have reached an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This represents a staggering 62.6% growth compared to the previous year, a milestone Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed as a testament to the nation’s growing "global trust" and indigenous manufacturing prowess.
The surge is attributed to a collaborative ecosystem where Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed nearly 55% of the total, with the private sector providing the remainder. Analysts suggest that the ongoing West Asia conflict and the demand for cost-effective, reliable hardware like the BrahMos missiles and Tejas aircraft have accelerated India’s position as a preferred global supplier. "This isn't just about revenue; it's about a self-reliant India scripting a new global security narrative," the Minister noted in a social media post. This record figure is seen as a major leap toward the government's long-term goal of making India one of the world's top five defence exporters by the end of the decade
